Benefits of Swimming

Swimming is excellent exercise for dogs, it’s a great all round activity, providing a good cardio workout and strengthening muscles at the same time. It's non-weight bearing, so it's great for senior dogs with joint issues. It’s also great for the heart and for the lungs.

It’s also a great way to bond and interact with your dog. And great fun!

GUIDELINES FOR POOL

There are no exceptions to these rules.   They are set in place to give you and your pup the safe and cleanest possible area for your time and money.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • At the beginning of your first appointment, you will be asked to sign a waiver, go over facility rules, and supply a copy of vaccines if you have not already given them.

  • We require a hard copy of proof of vaccinations.  We require rabies, distemper, and bordatella.  No exceptions - if you forget vaccine paperwork you will not be allowed to swim and will be charged a late cancellation fee of $25.  Your vaccine paperwork will be kept on file and will be expected to be updated on due dates.

  • For puppies and dogs that have never swam before, a life jacket should be used for that initial appointment.  You may bring your own or rent one of ours.  As your dog gets more comfortable it will no longer require one.

  • Pool time is 30 min, please arrive promptly at your scheduled times to ensure maximum jump time.  No exceptions, someone will be waiting next in line and we all must be considerate.

  • Toenails must be trimmed with smooth edges.  Nails will be checked prior to swim, and if trimming or filing is required, there will be a $10 fee.  Sharp/long toenails can damage the pool.

  • Make sure to potty your dog prior to swimming.  There is a designated potty area on the front of the building.  Anyone who does not clean up after their dog will not be allowed to use our facility. This also includes cleaning up after your dog indoors.

  • Dogs should be brushed out prior to entering the pool. Brushes are available for use in the wash/dry area.  If the dog is dirty or muddy, you will be required to rinse your dog before entering the pool.

  • Defecation in the pool will result in a clean-up fee of $50, Session will end and no refund will be given.

  • Dogs should be in good health and free of any communicable conditions.

  • No food or drink allowed on the dock.

  • No treats on the dock.  The reason for this is treats may clog the filtration system. Also, due to some dogs not chewing and swallowing treats it could be a choking hazard or cause your dog to swallow too much water.

  • You are welcome to bring children on the dock, but they must listen to instructions and not present a safety risk. Mill Pond Kennels staff may ask children to leave dock area if we determine there is a safety risk to the dog or children.  No one under 18 is allowed on the dock without a parent or guardian present.

  • We must be notified of any cancellation a minimum 48 hours in advance of appointment by phone or email.  Non-notified missed appointments are to be paid in full or deducted from pre-paid package.  Any client that missed more than one appointment without notification is expected to pre-pay for any future appointments.

  • DO NOT EVER PUSH YOUR DOG OFF THE DOCK!  Dogs may also not be drug up the stairs to the dock.

  • Please no outside professional photography.  If you would like your session photographed please ask our staff to schedule a photographer before your session date.

  • Do not use external flea/tick product within 5 days of swim.

  • Do not feed your dog 3-4 hours before a swim session.

  • Dogs must ABSOLUTELY be LEASHED (4-6') upon entry/exit of the facility.  No retractable leashes!  Please keep your dog under control at all times.  Females in heat are not allowed.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

  • Be prepared to get wet – it is highly recommended you bring an extra pair of shoes, wear quick dry clothing, or a change of clothes. A drying station is available after swim.  You may also schedule with our groomer while you are here.

  • You can bring your own floatable toys.  Remember no treats!

  • Towels can be handy as well!

  • If you haven't turned in vaccination records, please don't forget them.  (see rules above)
